Black Stag Tannery prides itself on great craftsmanship and is one of the only tanneries in New Zealand still processing skins by hand in this way. It is also one of the only tanneries in the North Island to process Thar hides.
Black Stag Tannery uses the old school method of tanning, mixed with some of the best products available today and with years of experimenting have created its own recipes and processes to find the best way of getting the results they’re after – soft supple flat skins with a crisp white and soft underneath.

Hand Crafted Skins and Hides
At Black Stag Tannery the entire tanning process is done by hand, from fleshing the skins to the final product of a supple, flat skin perfect for wall hanging or a rug.
Euro Mounts
Black Stag Tannery can take your skull through the entire process from cleaning and whitening to mounting on a locally produced shield.
